Marquis Who’s Who Honors Ajay Bhatnagar, MD, for Excellence in Radiation Oncology

Dr. Ajay Bhatnagar is a renowned radiation oncologist and the founder of the Prostate Cancer Institute of Arizona

PHOENIX, April 19, 2023 — Ajay Bhatnagar, MD, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Dr. Bhatnagar is a radiation oncologist and the founder of the Prostate Cancer Institute of Arizona in Chandler, Arizona, since 2002, a distinguished health care facility that has provided high-quality prostate cancer care for men. Through his practice, he diagnoses and treats prostate cancer using state-of-the-art technology. Dr. Bhatnagar begins with rectal spacing via Barrigel®, the only rectal spacer made from hyaluronic acid, which is naturally present in the human body, to improve the safety of the treatment and reduce side effects. He subsequently performs focal brachytherapy, a form of radiation therapy comprised of a one-hour procedure and a minimally invasive treatment choice.

Affiliated with several hospitals, Dr. Bhatnagar envisions continued success in treating patients and helping them derive the best outcomes. He also collaborates with fellow urologists and conducts research to remain abreast of new changes in the field. Looking toward the future, Dr. Bhatnagar aims to create a nationwide network of prostate cancer centers.

Previously, Dr. Bhatnagar was affiliated with Alliance Oncology from 2018 to 2022 and the Cancer Treatment Services of Arizona between 2007 and 2018 as a radiation oncologist. He also served as a contracted medical director at HealthChoice from 2012 to 2017.

Civically, Dr. Bhatnagar has supported the Desert Cancer Foundation of Arizona, a nonprofit organization comprised of volunteers devoted to fighting cancer through education and early detection. He was also responsible for launching a five-day screening program in an underserved community that garnered him a Humanitarian Award in 2012.

In preparation for his career, Dr. Bhatnagar received a Bachelor of Science in bioengineering and biomedical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude, in 1998, followed by a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2002 and a residency from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine Health Center in 2007. Moreover, Dr. Bhatnagar garnered a Master of Business Administration from the Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh in 2006.

Dr. Bhatnagar is a professional member of the American Brachytherapy Society, the Arizona Medical Association, and the American Society of Radiation Oncology. Honoring his work ethic, he received recognition from Castle Connolly with a Top Doctor’s Award in 2023. Dr. Bhatnagar credits his family for his success and for enduring all the sacrifices so that he could continue progressing in his field.
